Winter in Manitoba

January 23, 2014

Social media has been buzzing with talk of cold temperatures and snow. Here’s how our winter looks. The pictures were taken today at noon. Leanne, our dog Coco and myself, went for a walk. The air temperature was -20, which is pretty normal for us, but it was the wind that sucked our breath away. Today it was gusting up to 50 kmh, and the humidity was over 75%. This isn’t abnormal for us, but it just gets long. Right now we’re roughly at the half-way point before winter will start to let up. Enjoy the pics!

The photos are self explanatory, except for the first – it’s a picture of our neighborhood. Don’t see any houses? Well, neither do we!

Okay, I guess we can’t complain. It’s only -4F here with a wind chill of -25.

But the nice part of your world is that those temperatures won’t stay around for long. Endure the cold, my friend, and the warmth of spring will seem that much nicer! At least that’s how we try and look at it in the Canadian prairies – or maybe that’s just the “cabin fever” speaking.
