August Update

September 3, 2011

Here’s how August shaped up.

– Although it didn’t get posted until the first couple of days in September, the August edition of Forcing Change was completed. This issue centerd on the August Anniversaries and related stories; The closing of the gold window and the trouble with fiat currencies, Russia’s August Coup and the Soviet archives, and the back-story of radical social activism in America.

– I was interviewed on the following radio shows: Financial Sense Newshour, My Perspective, and View From The Bunker (to be played in September).

– Only read two short books: Jose Ortega Y Gasset, The Revolt of the Masses, and Arthur Seldon, The Dilemma of Democracy: The Political Economics of Over-Government.

– Gave a devotional to the maintenance crew at Valley View Bible Camp; It was good spending time with these young men and women who dedicated their summer to doing the dirty jobs necessary to keep a youth camp functioning.

– Worked on and completed the initial editing for Gary Kah’s fall newsletter, Hope For The World Update.

– Did a little bit of metal detecting: Found and returned a lost promise ring, dug out a 1899 US quarter and a 1911 Canadian “Godless” quarter. The American coin is too wore to have much collector value (although the silver content is important), but the Canadian coin is in fantastic condition.

– Taught my daughter how to ride her brother’s dirt bike! Way to go Austin!

– Spent most of a week working in the bush at our future cabin site… Sadly, the summer is going to be gone before it’s up.

    Hi, Carl:

In my horror and seeking to know if it was just my blog’s appearance which took a dramatic turn for the worse by visiting yours (we use the same theme), I wanted to alert you to take a look at the latest development by visiting your actual blog (not dashboard).

Yeah, It was shocking to me too. Easy enough to change though by going to “appearance”, “theme options” and confirming by pushing “save options”.

Thought you’d like to know. (Btw, this isn’t for publishing)
